[Cricket T20] Kieron Pollard – 6 Sixes in an Over (Records are meant to be broken)

Kieron Pollard, a West Indies captain, recently slammed six sixes in an over against Sri Lanka’s Akila Dananjaya and now becoming the 2nd player in T20I history to reach the feat after Yuvraj Singh.

More over, Dananajaya also took a hat-trick in same match against Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran.

Kieron Hit Akila all around the park and after hitting the last six of the over, he turned towards directly the dressing room and bowed to his teammates, as they stood up and applauded the masterclass from their skipper. In 2010 IPL, Pollard was the joint highest paid player who played for Mumbai Indians.

West Indies also beat Sri Lanka by 4 Wickets in 1st T20 with final score as listed below:

  • West Indies – 134/6 (12 Over)
  • Sri Lanka – 131/9 (20 Over)

With this moment, Kieron Pollard today became only the 3rd batsmen after Yuvraj Singh and Herschelle Gibbs to smash six sixes in an over where he completely cleaned up Akila Dananjaya today. For the first time a bowler takes a hattrick and goes for 6 sixes in an over in the same match.

Six Sixes in International Cricket:

  • India (Yuvraj Singh) vs England (Stuart Broad) in 2007 (T20I)
  • South Africa (Herschelle Gibbs) vs Netherlands (Daan van Bunge) in 2007 Cricket World Cup (ODI)
  • West Indies (Kieron Pollard) vs Sri Lanka (Akila Dananjaya) in 2021 (T20I)

Moreover, in October 2018 Afghan player Hazratullah Zazai hit six sixes in an over, becoming the third ever batsman to do so in a Twenty20 match.
