Poonam Pandey Alleges Harassment Against Her Husband Sam Bombay

A bold model and actress Poonam Pandey just 13 days after the marriage, she filed a harassment complaint against her husband Sam Bombay. After the marriage, Poonam went on holiday with her husband to the tourist city of Goa where she lodged an FIR against her husband at Canacona police station in South Goa on Tuesday (September 22nd 2020).

They got married at their Mumbai home in the presence of close friends and family on 11th September 2020.

Poonam alleged that her husband Sam had beaten her, abused her and even threatened to kill her if she had a personal quarrel. An FIR was lodged under sections 323, 504, 354 and 506 (2) of the Indian Penal Code. Police have arrested Sam Bombay in this incident.

She got engaged to her long-time boyfriend Sam Bombay last July amid the Corona epidemic. After that, the couple posted the news on the photo and video sharing site Instagram on September 10th 2020 and informed about the marriage.

“Pandey filed a complaint late Monday night claiming her husband Sam Ahmed Bombay had molested her, and threatened her with dire consequences after assaulting her. He was arrested,” Inspector Tukaram Chavan of Canacona police station said. Furthermore, the victim i.e. SAM BOMBAY was subjected to mandatory medical tests, he added. Although the allegations made by Poonam Pandey are not yet proved, this is not the first time that she has given rise to controversies.

Sam who was born and brought up in United Arab Emirates’ Dubai is an ad-filmmaker and a producer who has done projects with Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline, Tamannaah, Deepika Padukone, Allu Arjun etc. He has reportedly also worked with cricketers like Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh along with various brands like Oppo, Sparx and Amazon.

Poonam Pandey often discusses by posting various controversial pictures and videos on social media. She has acted in movies like ‘Nasha‘, ‘Trip to Bhangarh‘, ‘The Journey of Karma‘, ‘Love Is Poison‘ and ‘Aa Gaya Hero‘.

But on Wednesday i.e. 23rd Sept 2020, Poonam Pandey started trending on Twitter with many attacking her for allegedly faking the FIR in order to get extort money out of Sam Bombay. Many alleged that the Poonam Pandey was indeed lying.

This incident brought back and older debate about the rights and consent of married women in India when it comes to their husbands. Incidentally, marital rape is still not a recognized criminal offence in India despite repeated calls for the same.
