1. THE NOBEL PRIZE
This prestigious award is named for Alfred Nobel, who created dynamite. The first Nobel Prize was presented in 1901, and the number of fields in which it is presented has increased to six since. Nobel Prize is now awarded in chemistry, physics, literature, medicine, economics and peace.
In addition to receiving a diploma and a gold medal, winners in each category also receive a monetary prize.
2. The Copley Medal
It is an award given by the Royal Society, for “outstanding achievements in research in any branch of science”. It alternates between the physical and the biological sciences.It is oldest surviving scientific award in the world having first been given in 1731 to Stephen Gray.
3. Kyoto Prize – Japanese Nobel Prize
It is Japan’s highest private award for lifetime achievement in the arts and sciences. awarded annually since 1985 by the Inamori Foundation.
4. The Wolf Prize
It is an international award granted in Israel, that has been presented most years since 1978 to living scientists and artists for “achievements in the interest of mankind and friendly relations among people.
5. The Kavli Prize
It was established in 2005 by Norway. The main objective for the Prize is to honor, support and recognize scientists for outstanding scientific work in the fields of astrophysics, nanoscience and neuroscience.
6. The Templeton Prize
It is an annual award granted to a living person, in the estimation of the judges, “whose exemplary achievements advance Sir John Templeton’s philanthropic vision: harnessing the power of the sciences to explore the deepest questions of the universe and humankind’s place and purpose within it.”
7. The Sakharov Prize
It honours individuals and groups of people who have dedicated their lives to the defense of human rights and freedom of thought. Named after Russian scientist and dissident Andrei Sakharov, the prize was established in December 1988 by the European Parliament.
8. Marcus Wallenberg Prize(MWP) 2020’ or the Nobel Prize for forest sector
The purpose of the Prize is to recognize, encourage and stimulate pathbreaking scientific achievements which contribute significantly to broadening knowledge and to technical development within the fields of importance to forestry and forest industries.

10. Von Karman Award
It is the highest distinction of the International Academy of Astronautics given annually to recognise outstanding lifetime achievements in any branch of science. The award was instituted in 1987 in memory of Dr Theodore Von Karman, universally respected and legendary aerospace scientist.
11. Carnot Prize
Carnot Prize, the most prestigious award in the energy sector, is the annual recognition of distinguished contributions to energy policy through scholarship or practice.
Awarded by: Kleinman Center for Energy Policy at the University of Pennsylvania School of Design.
It is named after French physicist Nicolas Sadi Carnot who recognised that the power of the steam engine would “produce a great revolution” in human development.
12. The Booker Prize
The leading literary award in the English speaking world, which has brought recognition, reward and readership to outstanding fiction for over 50 years. Awarded annually to the best novel of the year written in English and published in the UK or Ireland.

referred to as the “Nobel Prize of Computing,” was named in honor of Alan Mathison Turing (1912–1954), a British mathematician and computer scientist who taught mathematics at the University of Manchester He made fundamental advances in computer architecture, algorithms, formalization of computing, and artificial intelligence. Turing was also instrumental in British code-breaking work during World War II.
The Award is an annual prize given by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
14. Pulitzer Awards
Awarded for – Excellence in newspaper journalism, literary achievements, musical composition. This award was named after US Publisher Joseph Pulitzer ( 1847 to 1911). There are total 21 categories under which this award is conferred. Some of these categories are – Public Services, Breaking News Reporting, Investigative Reporting, Explanatory Reporting, Beat Reporting, International Reporting, Feature Writing, Commentary, Criticism, Editorial Writing etc.
Joseph Pulitzer was a newspaper publisher. He was a politician in the Democratic Party of USA. He crusaded against big business and corruption, and
helped keep the Statue of Liberty in New York.

16. Fields Medal
This award is given every four years by the International Congress of the International Mathematical Union (IMU) to two, three or four mathematicians under 40 years of age for making lasting and advanced achievements in mathematics.
The Fields and the Abel Prize are both highly regarded and important, and in some ways, they can be regarded as the Nobel Prize in mathematics.
17. Abel Prize
Abel Prize is among the new and famous awards in the field of mathematics donated by the King of Norway to outstanding mathematicians. In 2001 the Norwegian government announced that it wants to award a new prize to mathematicians in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Norwegian mathematician Niels Henrik Abel (1829-1802). The award is an effort to promote mathematics knowledge among the people, especially the youth and is the de facto Nobel Prize of mathematics.
The Fields Medal is awarded once every four years, it is often referred to as the Nobel Prize in Mathematics. The Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development is an annual award named after former prime minister Indira Gandhi.
It is given every year by Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust since 1986. The award recognizes efforts by individuals/organizations working towards amplifying international peace & development and Ensuring that scientific discoveries are used for the larger good of humanity and enlarging the scope of freedom.
18. Emmy Award
It is an American award that recognizes excellence in the television industry. The Emmy is named after “immy”, an informal term for the image orthicon tube that was common in early television cameras. The statuette depicts a winged woman holding an atom. The Emmy is considered one of the four major American entertainment awards, the others being the Grammy (for music), the Oscar (for film), and the Tony (for theater).
19. Grammy Award
The Grammy Award (originally called Gramophone Award) is an award presented by the Recording Academy to recognize achievements in the music industry. The trophy depicts a gilded gramophone.

It is awarded annually to a full-length novel or book of short stories by an American author who has not previously published a full-length book of
fiction. The award is named after Ernest Hemingway It is administered by PEN America. Mary Hemingway, a member of PEN, founded the award in
1976 both to honor the memory of her husband and to recognize distinguished first books of fiction.
24. The Pritzker architecture prize
To honor a living architect or architects whose built work demonstrates a combination of those qualities of talent, vision, and commitment, which has
produced consistent and significant contributions to humanity and the built environment through the art of architecture. The international prize is awarded each year to a living architect/s for significant achievement, was established by the Pritzker family of Chicago through their Hyatt Foundation in 1979. It is granted annually and is often referred to as “architecture’s Nobel” and “the profession’s highest honor.”
25. The Aga Khan Award for Architecture
The Aga Khan Award for Architecture (AKAA) is an architectural prize established by Aga Khan IV in 1977. It aims to identify and reward architectural concepts that successfully address the needs and aspirations of Muslim societies in the fields of contemporary design, social housing, community development and improvement, restoration, reuse and area conservation, as well as landscape design and improvement of the environment.
26. Commonwealth Points of Light awards
Given to volunteers for the difference they are making in their communities and beyond. One outstanding volunteer from each of the Commonwealth
countries is recognised with Commonwealth Points of Light awards running.
27. New Food Planet Prize
The Curt Bergfors Foundation of Sweden created two prizes for solutions towards sustainable food system amid the threatening climate change. Named as the ‘New Food Planet Prize’, the prize is to be awarded annually in two categories: existing scalable solution for sustainable foods and innovative initiative for transforming food sector.

Britain’s Prince William has launched a new Earthshot Prize, aimed at funding the most innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.
29. Agence France-Presse Kate Webb Prize
The Kate Webb Prize honours journalists working in perilous or difficult conditions in Asia, and is named after a crusading AFP reporter who died
in 2007 at the age of 64, after a career covering the world’s troublespots. Born in New Zealand, Kate Webb earned a reputation as a fearless reporter while covering wars and other historic events in Asia during a career spanning four decades.
30. Stirling Prize
Stirling Prize is a British prize for excellence in architecture. It is named after the architect James Stirling, organised and awarded annually by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). Until 2014 the building could be anywhere in the European Union, but since 2015 has had to be in the UK. The award was founded in 1996, and is considered to be the most prestigious architecture award in the United Kingdom.
31. Turner Prize
One of the best-known prizes for the visual arts in the world, the Turner Prize aims to promote public debate around new developments in contemporary British art. Established in 1984, it is awarded to a British artist for an outstanding exhibition or other presentation of their work.
It is named after the English painter J. M. W. Turner International Gandhi award for leprosy World Leprosy Day is observed on the last Sunday of January.
In India, it is celebrated on the 30th January each year to commemorate the death of Mahatma Gandhi. This day was chosen as a tribute to the life of Gandhi who had a lifelong compassion for people affected by leprosy.
32. Dan David Prize
The Dan David Prize is an international award, endowed by the Dan David Foundation and headquartered at Tel Aviv University. The Dan David Prize recognizes and encourages innovative and interdisciplinary research that cuts across traditional boundaries and paradigms. It aims to foster universal values of excellence, creativity, justice, democracy, and progress and to promote the scientific, technological and humanistic achievements that advance and improve our world.

33. The Laureus World Sports Awards
(“The Sports Oscars”,) is an annual award ceremony honouring individuals and teams from the world of sports along with sporting achievements throughout the year. It was established in 1999 by Laureus Sport for Good Foundation founding patrons Daimler and Richemont.
These programmes aim to use the power of sport to end violence, discrimination and disadvantage, and prove that sport has the power to change the world. The name “Laureus” is derived from the Greek word for laurel, considered a traditional symbol of victory in athletics.
34. Merlin Award
The Merlin award is the highest award given, internationally, in the field of magic and illusion. The award is presented by the International Magician Society. The Merlin award is unusual in that the magician’s category and year of receiving the award are not published.

35. “Michelin Star”
One of the greatest honours in restaurant industry. It is a hallmark of fine dining quality with restaurants around the world. The same Michelin that sells tires also hands out restaurant ratings, and highly coveted ones that that. A Michelin star is the most coveted award that any chef aspires for.
Although the Michelin star is awarded to a restaurant the credit for it goes to the chef in charge of the kitchen.
36. Ramon Magsaysay Award
Established in 1957 & presented by Philippines. Known as Asia’s Nobel Prize. Named after former president of Philippines Ramon Magsaysay.
Given on 31 Aug which is also the birth anniversary of Magsaysay. This award is conferred for outstanding contribution in Public Service, Community leadership, Journalism, Literature, International Understanding and Creative Arts.
37. Golden Globe Awards
The Golden Globe Awards are accolades bestowed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association since 1944 recognizing excellence in film, both American and International, and American television.
