Kangana Ranaut Slams False Claims of Beef Consumption

Kangana Ranaut, an acclaimed Bollywood actor and a vocal supporter of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is currently in the spotlight as she prepares to transition from the silver screen to the political arena. However, her journey has been marred by a controversy that has forced her to deny allegations of beef consumption.

In India, where cows are revered by the majority Hindu population, the issue of beef consumption is a highly sensitive one. The BJP, the ruling party that Kangana is representing, has been known to advocate for bans on cattle slaughter. As such, the allegations against her, if proven true, could potentially damage her political aspirations.

Kangana Ranaut has herself said in many interviews that she consumes beef and now she is lying.

The controversy began when an opposition politician claimed that she had previously consumed beef. This claim was further fueled by several social media users who shared screengrabs of what they alleged were old posts from Kangana’s account, supposedly providing proof of her beef consumption.

Kangana Ranaut, who is planning to formally enter politics as a BJP candidate in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh, vehemently denied these allegations. Writing on a social media platform, she stated, “I don’t consume beef or any other kind of red meat, it is shameful that completely baseless rumours are being spread about me, I have been advocating and promoting yogic and Ayurvedic way of life for decades now such tactics won’t work to tarnish my image.”

She further affirmed her religious beliefs, stating, “ My people know me and they know that I am a proud Hindu and nothing can ever mislead them.” She concluded her post with the phrase “Jai Shri Ram“, a proclamation of the Hindu faith.

Despite the controversy, the BJP, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is expected to perform strongly in the upcoming elections. The party draws its support primarily from the country’s Hindu population.

She is no stranger to controversy. In 2020, at the height of her fame in Hindi cinema, she made a series of serious allegations against people in the industry. In 2021, her social media account was suspended for alleged incitement to violence after she urged Mr Modi to “tame” an opposition leader.

As Kangana navigates this controversy and makes her move into elected politics, it remains to be seen how this issue will impact her political journey and the BJP’s performance in the upcoming elections.
